Embodying a Healthy Lifestyle - Around The Bay 2025

The day after a big race, or Medal Monday as all the runners like to call it, is one of the best days! The sense of accomplishment you feel from doing something physically challenging far outweighs the slow shuffle you use to get up and down the stairs the day after a race. At The Movement, we have a list of standards we hold ourselves to, and today, I wanted to share one of them with you: Embody a Healthy Lifestyle.

The Mission of The Movement

The mission of The Movement is to empower people to take control of their health. On a daily basis, we get the opportunity to help guide people to do just that. Events like Around The Bay are a celebration of this mission as we got to watch many of our clients cross the finish line—clients who had previously been dealing with injuries that had kept them from running.

Nothing fires us up more than that moment.

But as a company, we always wanted to go one step further. We didn’t want to just watch our clients accomplish these goals; we wanted to be right alongside them.

That is where our standard of embodying a healthy lifestyle comes in.

Embodying a Healthy Lifestyle

Most companies have values and standards they set for their people. They usually sit up on a wall or in a handbook somewhere, often collecting dust. At The Movement, we wanted to make sure that this didn’t happen.

If we are going to be preaching tirelessly about the importance of exercise, recovery, nutrition, and health, we better be pursuing these areas ourselves.

Running has seemingly been one of those sports that most of our team has grasped onto in some capacity.

Around The Bay Highlights

During Around The Bay, both Will and Don took on the 15k race as they are gearing up for the Sulphur Springs Trail Race. Don will be running a 20k loop for our 100-mile team, and Will is going to be running his first-ever 50k Ultramarathon. Which we have been documenting on our youtube channel!

Don also joined forces with the Peter Boris Centre for Addictions and Mental Health to help raise money for a great cause. They are very close to reaching their fundraising goal, so if this is an area that speaks to you and you can support in any way, it would be appreciated.

Jess was unable to race, but she passed the torch off to her husband, who completed his first 30k run ever. A huge accomplishment, as he had constantly trained for it with run programming from our team.

I, unfortunately, did not run the race due to an injury I am dealing with, but I had a blast being at the race to cheer on everyone in the pouring rain. You can check out my POV of the race through a short vlog I made.

Although Nick, Eli, and Lauren did not participate in Around The Bay this year, they are all currently training to run 20k loops for our 100-mile relay team at Sulphur and are getting ready to crush it in their own right.

What It Means to Embody a Healthy Lifestyle

When it comes to embodying a healthy lifestyle, we think Around The Bay is a perfect example of how our team and our community express this standard. Pursuing a challenge that will require time, sacrifice, and consistent hard work in the name of celebrating the sport of running and improving your health is what it’s all about.

These standards don’t mean we are perfect. We fall short of them sometimes. But they are there to hold us accountable, remind us why we do what we do, and allow us to get alongside the people in our community.

A Huge Shoutout

I want to end this by giving a huge shoutout to everyone in The Movement and Hamilton community who participated in any distance of the race this year!

You inspire us to embody a healthy lifestyle and have some fun in the process.

We’ll see you all next year!
