THE MOVEMENT TEAM
Changing how people think about their health.
Meet The Movement team.
We are The Movement - 3 physiotherapists running a multidisciplinary performance rehab facility in Dundas, ON! Alongside our extensive clinical practice we have been applying ourselves as educators and connectors in the broader physiotherapy field through the PT Coffeecast. But we want to impact the local community, which led us to our bricks and mortar location. As clinicians, we are very passionate about promoting an active, healthy lifestyle and helping people thrive in the activities that drive them.
Don Lesar
PHYSIOTHERAPIST, FCAMPT, CO-FOUNDER
Don has felt connected to the Dundas community since starting at McMaster in 2009 and feels privileged to be able to provide care to the health conscious people of Dundas and the surrounding area. Don is a father of two young girls and enjoys rock climbing, mountain biking, trail running, functional fitness training, camping and anything that gets him into the fresh valley air.
Don completed his Masters of Physical Therapy locally at McMaster University. Prior to this, Don completed his undergrad in Health Studies at University of Waterloo. Throughout his degrees Don worked as a strength and conditioning coach helping people achieve their health and fitness goals. In the fall of 2015, he gained Fellowship status in the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapists (FCAMPT). He has taken additional courses in acupuncture, soft tissue release, therapeutic taping, blood flow restriction therapy and strength & conditioning as it applies to rehabilitative populations. With a primary emphasis on education and exercise, Don incorporates manual therapy and soft tissue techniques to guide people along their individual paths to recovery.
Will Nicholson
PHYSIOTHERAPIST, CO-FOUNDER
Will is a lifelong learner, and along with Dalton, has been connecting with a network of like-minded clinicians internationally through the PTCoffeecast. The PTCoffeecast is a podcast about all things physiotherapy with a side of geeking out on coffee. Will is also a competitive powerlifter, and enjoys anything that involves lifting weights. To round it out, he loves hiking, cycling, and being outdoors.
Will completed his Masters of Physical Therapy at Western University. Before this, he completed an undergraduate in Kinesiology at Brock University where he played baseball for four years and was a team captain. Will emphasizes exercise and education to help empower his clients, and includes manual therapy and soft tissue work to optimize recovery. Will has taken additional courses in pain neuroscience, soft tissue release, and prehab/strength and conditioning as it relates to physiotherapy.
Dalton Laino
PHYSIOTHERAPIST, CO-FOUNDER
Dalton has a drive for growth. Whether it be his health journey, his own personal development, or continually hearing other peoples perspectives on the PTCoffeecast that he co-hosts with Will. This drive has lead him to partnering with Don and Will to build The Movement Physio & Performance. Outside of this you can find Dalton dabbling in various areas of fitness such as CrossFit and Running, drinking freshly brewed coffee from his aeropress, and enjoying a hike while listening to his favourite podcast.
Dalton completed his Masters of Physical Therapy Degree at Western University. Prior to that, he graduated with a Kinesiology degree from the University of Windsor where he played football in the Canadian Junior Football League. He has spent the early part of his career working as both a physiotherapist and a strength coach. During this time he discovered that the most important thing he can do for people is position himself as a guide on their rehab and fitness journey. Dalton uses a combination of exercise and education to empower his clients and will use manual therapy and soft tissue work to help supplement his approach.
The Movement Allied Health Team
At The Movement Physio & Performance, we care about getting you back to what you love and we know that involves accounting for your individual needs. We believe that the team around you matters both as a client and a clinician. That’s why we spend the time to team up with clinicians who have positive attitudes and are passionate about joining a community of clinicians focussed on bettering themselves and helping clients achieve their goals.
Dan Marynowski
Registered Massage Therapist, Registered Athletic Therapist
Dan has lived in the Hamilton area for most of his lifetime but has recently returned from Ottawa where he was the Head Athletic Therapist with the OHL Ottawa 67’s for five years. In addition to that, he has also spent six years as a reserve medic in the Canadian military and has worked with numerous sports organizations in the past such as Hockey Canada, Ontario Basketball, York University Football, and the Ottawa Redblacks of the CFL. Although he has spent considerable time on the sidelines covering sporting events, it is within the clinic that Dan will cater to the individual needs of each patient when it comes to the appropriate manual therapy techniques, exercise implementation, biomechanical cueing, and proper reconditioning programs for them to properly return to peak performance.
Dan completed his Kinesiology undergraduate at Brock University and later became certified as an Athletic Therapist at York University. He chose to further his education, and later became a registered Massage Therapist. Although the bulk of his experience has been in injury risk reduction and the management of pain and dysfunction from soft tissue and joint injuries, he is now specializing in concussion rehabilitation and proper return to play protocols.
